Bangkaphom Temple

Wat Bang Kaphom, Samut Songkhram Province 🌿It is an ancient temple with a long history. It is believed that it was built in the late Ayutthaya period in 2312. According to legend, a family fled the war in Ayutthaya to this area and wove a pom (a rice container) to survive. When the Burmese army invaded, the couple hid in the pom and prayed that if they survived, they would build a temple to offer. When they were safe, they built a temple and named it “Wat Bang Kaphom”, which later changed to “Wat Bang Kaphom”. 🙏 The temple has a distinctive structure with ancient Chinese architecture. The entrance is a round door with stucco doorkeepers standing guard on both sides. Inside the temple, there are beautiful bas-relief murals telling the story of the life of the Buddha and the story of the Buddha’s footprints. These paintings include high and low relief, and some colored paintings. Inside the temple, there are four Buddha footprints stacked on top of each other on stone slabs. It is considered a sacred object that the villagers highly respect and believe in.
