#summervacay Mount Musala—the highest peak in Bulgaria and the Balkans—suits older or senior hikers: Most hikers reach near the top via the Yastrebets gondola, starting from Borovets. The lift brings you to around 2,365 m, reducing the hike by about 1,000 m elevation gain. From there, it’s approximately 3 hours of walking along a well-maintained trail to the summit. From the lift station, the path is mostly even and non-technical, with some steeper stretches near the top.
