Stonehenge, a World Heritage Site in England

The World Heritage Site Stonehenge is a prehistoric monument on Salisbury Plain in Wiltshire, England, 3 kilometers west of Amesbury. Stonehenge consists of an outer circle of vertical sarsen stones, each of which is about 4 meters high, 2.1 meters wide, weighs about 25 tons, and is connected to a horizontal lintel at the top. Inside is a circle of smaller bluestones. Within these are three separate tiers of stone, connected by two larger vertical monoliths and a horizontal monolith lintel on top. The entire monument, now in ruins, faces the sunrise on the summer solstice. The stones are set in earthworks in the middle of the densest collection of Neolithic and Bronze Age monuments in England, including hundreds of tumuli. From a viewing perspective, this attraction is the least interesting, and the tickets are quite expensive.
