Yamagata Shonai - Shrine with a singing ceiling

My first trip to Shonai. The gate here (Suishinmon) has a ringing ceiling, and if you stand in the middle and clap your hands, you can hear a sound like bells ringing. It's the same as the ringing dragon at Nikko Toshogu Shrine. There are no people here, so you can try out different things at your own pace and have fun. When you look up in the worship hall, you'll see a dragon supporting the beams. What, that's unusual... I thought, but I ended up seeing it many times while touring the shrines and temples in this area. Is it something unique to the region? Is it something from a certain era?
