Tankavaara Gold Museum

Tankavaara Gold Museum is located adjacent to the Gold Village. It was built to the authentic environment, near one of the Lapland Gold rush sites. Actually there’s still regular gold panning going on in the area. The museum is well made and contains a lot of old gold panning equipment and some video performances as well. The admission is not expensive (12 euros for an adult and 6 euros for a kid and 27 euros for a family in 2021). The museum is open from 10 am until 5 pm during the summer and until 4 pm during the winter. From the museum shop you can buy some gold rush related souvenirs. The gold village is also within walking distance from the museum and you can plan your visit to include both of these sites. The museum is located just next to the main road 4 (E75) and it’s located about 100 km north from the town of Sodankyla and 30 km south from Saariselka winter sports resort.
