Walking Through Ancient Times – Day 3 in Rome

Today, I explored the true heart of Rome. Starting the morning at the Colosseum, I was absolutely awestruck by its grandeur. Each crumbled stone felt like a testament to history, and I could almost imagine the echoes of gladiators' cheers. Touring the interior, including the underground structures and seating areas, I was amazed by the sheer scale and intricate design. Next to the Colosseum, the Roman Forum felt like a time machine. Walking among the ruins of temples and arches, I truly felt like a citizen of ancient Rome from 2,000 years ago. The Trajan's Column, with its elaborate reliefs depicting war narratives, captivated me with its exquisite detail—I couldn’t help but stare at it for a long time. Later, I visited the Altar of the Fatherland (Victor Emmanuel II Monument), which resembled a grand white marble palace. Its exterior was more magnificent than its interior, and the view of Rome from the terrace was breathtaking. Finally, I ended the day at the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore. The golden ceiling decorations, murals honoring the miracles of the Virgin Mary, and the overall atmosphere were deeply reverent and sublime. Today was all about being overwhelmed by history. It wasn’t just about visiting ancient sites—it felt like walking through living history.
