The Spanish Steps at Piazza di Spagna

#visitrome Spanish monument in Rome? This monument 135 steps stairway was built by French diplomat Etienne Gueffier with the fund of 20000 scudi, designed by architects Francesco de Sanctid and Alessandro Specchi, linking the Spanish embassy to the Holy See in the Palazzo Monaldeschi at the bottoms. Constructed between 1723 - 1725, this 300 year old steps has a height of 29 meters. Due to many years of corrosion, tear and wear, the steps was renovated a few times, which the recent one was sponsored by Italian luxury brand Bulgari. Down the steps is also the infamous Piazza di Spagna, with the left side Via del Babuino leading to Piazza del Popolo.
