Rievaulx Abbey

Rievaulx Abbey, founded in 1132, was one of England's largest and richest monasteries. It was destroyed in 1538 during the "Destruction of the Monasteries" by King Henry VIII, who dissolved England's monasteries to increase his coffers and assert royal authority over the Church. Very atmospheric place, beautiful nature, impressed!
