Germany's Historic City! Regensburg

Located on the banks of the Danube River in southern Germany, Regensburg is a beautiful ancient city with a history spanning approximately 2,000 years. Its Old Town and the area across the river are recognized as UNESCO World Heritage Sites. While the city is steeped in medieval history with its churches and cathedrals, it also boasts numerous cafes, making it a delightful place for strolling and sightseeing. One highly recommended spot is the Stone Bridge over the Danube River. The view from here is breathtaking, giving you the feeling of stepping back in time to the medieval era. At the foot of the Stone Bridge, you'll find the "Historische Wurstküche," known as the oldest sausage kitchen in Germany. Their charcoal-grilled sausages (served with sauerkraut) are the most popular item, and many visitors were enjoying them. You can also try Bavaria's famous white sausage and pretzels 🥨. I opted for a lighter meal and ordered the takeout menu item "Bratwurst Kipferl." It consisted of three sausages in a small bun with sauerkraut. The taste was delightful, and sitting on a bench along the Danube River, enjoying the beautiful scenery while eating, was incredibly pleasant. Now, let me introduce a recommended cafe. Behind Regensburg Cathedral, there's a shop called "Orlando di Lasso Konditorei und Café." The "Apfelstrudel" (apple strudel) I had there was so delicious that I still can't forget it ☺️. This apple dessert is like a thin pastry wrapped around apple pie filling and then sliced. It featured large chunks of apple, raisins, and a hint of cinnamon aroma. When ordering, you can choose between vanilla ice cream or vanilla sauce as a side. I chose the vanilla sauce, and I still remember the surprise and delight I felt when I took my first bite of the warm sauce. The calm atmosphere, attentive staff, and cozy interior made for a very enjoyable cafe experience ☕️. Regensburg also has Germany's oldest coffeehouse, "Prinzess Café," which is famous for its chocolates, cakes, and pastries. With so much charm, Regensburg is just about an hour and a half from Munich by express train.
