The Premier Mountain of the Sea!

Mount Lao, located in Qingdao City, Shandong Province, is the highest peak along China's coastline. Due to its unique geographical location and spectacular natural scenery, it is hailed as "The Premier Mountain of the Sea." Not only is it one of China's renowned Taoist mountains, but it also enjoys the reputation of being "The Premier Mountain of the Sea" for its mysterious and ancient Taoist heritage. The main peak of Mount Lao, known as Jufeng, stands at an elevation of 1132.7 meters and is a major mountain range of the Shandong Peninsula. Its distinctive feature of connecting mountains and sea makes it a stunning landmark of Qingdao City. The Taoist culture of Mount Lao has a long history. Since the Qin and Han dynasties, alchemists and shamans have practiced and meditated on Mount Lao. Taoism began to flourish during the Tang and Song dynasties, reaching its peak during the Yuan, Ming, and Qing periods. Within the mountainous area of Mount Lao, there are still existing Taoist temples such as Taiqing Palace, Shangqing Palace, and Mingxia Cave, making it one of the significant sacred sites of Taoism.
