I began my journey at Zhanqiao Pier, Qingdao’s iconic landmark stretching into the sea with a traditional Chinese pavilion at its tip. Watching waves crash beneath and seagulls circling above, I felt an instant calm. Behind me stood Qingdao’s old town, where red-roofed German buildings made me feel like I’d wandered into Bavaria. The Tsingtao Beer Museum was another highlight. Housed in the original brewery founded by Germans in 1903, it offered a fun and interactive journey through beer-making history — ending with a freshly poured pint of Qingdao’s world-famous lager. Perfectly chilled, perfectly refreshing. A short hike up Xiaoyushan Park rewarded me with panoramic views of the coastline and old city. I also visited Badaguan, a former colonial villa district filled with leafy streets, colorful mansions, and peaceful vibes — the perfect place for a romantic stroll. No trip to Qingdao is complete without seafood. I indulged in local favorites at the Qingdao Night Market, where grilled squid, razor clams, and garlic scallops were bursting with flavor. Best Time to Visit: May to October, especially during the Qingdao International Beer Festival in August. Travel Tips: Bring walking shoes – much of Qingdao is best explored on foot.
