World Heritage City: Pienza

The first stop on our rental car journey through the Val d'Orcia was 📍Pienza. Pienza is a UNESCO World Heritage site, built during the Renaissance as an ideal city by a Pope. The medieval streets and architecture remain intact. The town boasts stunning buildings and offers breathtaking views of the Val d'Orcia, another UNESCO World Heritage site. While the Val d'Orcia is generally less crowded with tourists, this World Heritage town was bustling even on a weekday. There are several free parking lots around the area. I’ve included the address of the free parking lot I used at the end. Though the town is small, it’s packed with attractions. Between taking photos and enjoying a light lunch, two hours flew by. The only paid attraction I visited was the Piccolomini Gardens. Admission for the gardens alone is €5.
