Wat Phra Phutthabat Ratcha Wora Maha Wihan, the footprint of the Lord Buddha

Wat Phra Phutthabat is a first-class royal temple of the Ratcha Wora Maha Wihan type, located in Khun Khlon Subdistrict, Phra Phutthabat District, Saraburi Province. This temple was built in 2167 B.E. during the Ayutthaya period. The builder, King Songtham, ordered its construction. The reason for the construction of this temple was because he saw the footprint of the Lord Buddha enshrined there. He was very devoted to it, so he ordered the craftsmen to build a small house to temporarily replace the footprint of the Lord Buddha. After returning to the capital, he began the construction of the place where the footprint of the Lord Buddha was, the Great Stupa, and he ordered the construction of the Great Mondop to cover the footprint of the Lord Buddha. He also ordered the construction of a monastery for monks and novices to live in regularly to take care of the Great Stupa and practice their religious duties.
