Longgong Cave in Jiujiang is a national 4A-level tourist attraction, located at the foot of Wulong Mountain in Tianhong Town, Pengze County, Jiujiang City, Jiangxi Province. 1. Formation and History: - Formation: In ancient times, this area was a vast ocean with thick limestone deposits. Later, the seabed rose to form land, and the limestone was buried in the earth's crust. During the ice age hundreds of thousands of years ago, the underground water level dropped, the cave dried up, and snowmelt dripped, slowly forming limestone. - History: Discovered in 1978, completed in 1979, and officially opened in June 1980. 2. Cave Scenery: - Scale: Longgong Cave is about 2,700 meters long. The cave is like a grand underground art palace with spacious space. - Featured Scenery: - The front hall has three stalagmites side by side, resembling three old men of longevity; the stalactites in the East Palace are varied and dazzling under the light; the West Palace has a stalagmite closely connected to the stalactite on the cave top, like the Sea-Calming Divine Needle of the Dragon King of the East Sea, pressing down on a stone turtle; the stalactites in the Drum and Music Hall resemble a huge waterfall, composed of hundreds of stalactites; the stalactites hanging from the top of the main palace resemble palace lanterns, with mottled patterns on the walls. - Temperature: The cave maintains a constant temperature of 18°C all year round, warm in winter and cool in summer. 3. Scenic Area Composition: - In addition to the main Longgong Cave, there are also Yuhu Cave, Yuxian Cave, and other karst caves. Yuhu Cave consists of both water and dry caves, with a dry cave of 500 meters and a water cave of 700 meters. The cave has flowing water, reflections, and a spacious and bright Yuhu Hall, which has hosted national basketball games and is rated as a Guinness World Record. The stalactites in Yuxian Cave, formed by calcium carbonate, resemble hanging icicles and ice flowers, crystal clear. - Additionally, the scenic area includes Xianzhenyan Temple, a forest park, and Lover's Valley rafting, making it a tourist destination combining mountains, water, karst caves, and Buddhist culture. 4. Transportation Information: - Self-driving: Visitors from Jiangsu and Anhui can take the route from Anqing—Dongzhi—Pengze—Dingshan—Longgong Cave; visitors from other provinces can take the route from Jiujiang—Hukou—Dingshan—Longgong Cave; visitors from Jiujiang City can take the route via G105—Hangrui Expressway—Shizhongshan Toll Station (Hukou)—Niujiu Line—Longgong Cave. - Public Transportation: You can buy a ticket from Jiujiang Bus Station to Pengze (buy a ticket to Dingshan), then take a minibus from Pengze to Tianhong; you can also take a bus from Jiujiang to Yangzi, which passes by Longgong Cave (Tianhong Township).
