Recommended route to Kota Kinabalu and entry information

Traveling to Kota Kinabalu with Royal Brunei Airlines✈︎ I’ve wanted to visit KOTA KINABALU 🇲🇾 for a long time, and finally made it! For my trip to Kota Kinabalu, I flew with Royal Brunei Airlines✈︎ Outbound✈︎ 11:45 Narita Airport (NRT) ↓ 16:45 Brunei International Airport (BWN) Transfer 20:15 Brunei International Airport (BWN) ↓ 20:55 Kota Kinabalu International Airport (BKI) Return✈︎ 21:20 Kota Kinabalu International Airport (BKI) ↓ 22:00 Brunei International Airport (BWN) Transfer 0:35 Brunei International Airport (BWN) ↓ 7:30 Narita Airport (NRT) The seats were arranged in three rows and equipped with monitors and USB ports! For the Narita↔︎Brunei flights, there were in-flight meals, blankets, and pillows provided. *No alcohol was served 🍷🙅♀️ The blanket was super soft and cozy, which I really enjoyed (haha). For the in-flight meals, I chose chicken and rice on the outbound flight, and beef and rice on the return flight 🍚 Before landing, there was a snack service, and the chocolate-filled cookies were delicious 😋 The monitors offered movies and music, but the audio was only available in English or French, and there were no Japanese subtitles. I recommend downloading content from Netflix or similar platforms beforehand. The transfer at Brunei Airport was quick and smooth 🙌 However, most shops and stores at the airport closed by 5:00 PM, so killing time might be a bit challenging 😅 I used the lounge with my Priority Pass, and surprisingly, the food there was quite tasty 😘 The flight from Brunei to Kota Kinabalu felt very short—it was like taking off and landing right away ✈︎ Kota Kinabalu Airport was larger than I expected! For entry into Malaysia, you’ll need to fill out a customs declaration form called the Malaysia Digital Arrival Card (MDAC). This can be registered online starting three days before your arrival date, including the day of arrival, so completing it in advance is convenient 😉 The cabin crew of Royal Brunei Airlines were all very friendly, making the flight comfortable 😌
