Taktsang Monastery, Bhutan

Visited in May 2023 We drove to the parking lot at the base and climbed with a guide from there. You can ride a horse from a little above the parking lot. It seems that in Buddhism, it's a shame for the horses, but I wanted to ride a horse, so I paid (it was 1,300 ngultrum (about 2,000 yen) at the time). After riding the horse for about 30 minutes and walking up a little from there, there is a rest area, and I ordered and ate cookies and milk tea on the way there. People who have difficulty climbing the slopes are said to give up climbing at this rest area. If you climb from the bottom, it takes about 2 hours in total (depends on the individual). It was hot and tiring, but the path was well maintained and easy to walk on, so it was just right for a trek. When you arrive at the monastery, you buy a ticket at the entrance and leave your luggage in a locker (the guide will do it for you). It was a little disappointing that you had to leave your camera and smartphone inside the monastery because photography is prohibited. There are many small temples inside, and we visited the most representative ones (we took off our shoes). As explained by the guide, I prayed and left offerings (notes) diligently. On the way down, we had a buffet lunch at the rest area (beer was also available for an additional fee). The trekking was fun, the temple was beautiful, and Taktsang Monastery was great. #TaktsangMonastery #Bhutan
