Day 2 of my Paris trip I visited Rue Mouffetard, Monge Market, the Pantheon, Monge Market, the Luxembourg Gardens, and Café de Flore. I woke up in the morning and ate some peaches provided by the hotel. They had "100%" printed on them, meaning they were 100% domestically produced, because they were patriotic and wanted to support their country's products. They were very sweet and juicy. There were sticker machines and fruit stalls inside the metro, neatly arranged. Every piece looked delicious, and the watermelon looked juicy. I took the metro to Rue Mouffetard Market, visited a cheese shop, bought a metro table mat for a gift at a hardware store, and bought a puzzle and soap at the gift shop across the street. There were seafood shops, roast chicken shops, and fruit shops along the street. The fruit was beautiful, and the cherries were huge, but I didn't think they were cheap, so I didn't buy anything. Because it was raining heavily, I stopped at a corner cafe and bought an apple pie, a lemon tart, and two espressos for 5.65 euros. I visited the Franprix supermarket, which had a freezer full of Daifuku ice cream. The milk was in plastic bottles, which I found quite unique. Besides the slide, the park also had a pool table made of different materials. The flowers were beautiful, like the textured bouquets you'd buy in Taiwan. The Monge Market had lots of stalls selling fruits and vegetables, cheese, roast chicken, and seafood. Afterward, I went to the nearby Colosseum, where some locals were walking their kids and riding bicycles. There was a forest trail with stairs leading into the building, which I quite enjoyed. For lunch, I had Korean food nearby. I ordered fried dumplings in tofu soup and sweet and sour shrimp. The potato side dish was delicious. It came to 19.50 euros. French cuisine is so exotic, and almost all restaurants have large screens showing French films, which was quite interesting. After eating, we went to Amorino for ice cream. This ice cream, like Pierre Hermé macarons, is a common sight in Paris. The ice cream can be shaped like petals, and the cups come in a variety of flavors. We chose four (chocolate, lemon, pistachio, and something resembling a maraschino cherry). There were enthusiastic couples kissing loudly in the ice cream shop. Later, at a souvenir shop, I bought an Eiffel Tower for Qianyu and three small pyramid keychains. I noticed the owner overcharged, but I didn't think it was much, so I didn't react. Then, I realized I'd accidentally left my souvenir at the ice cream shop while eating. When I ran back to look for it, I accidentally ran past it, and a kind Frenchman helped us get the bag. Around the corner, we saw a secondhand antique market selling jewelry, clothes, and old records. Trash cans are uniquely designed on French streets, and there are about three different styles. There are also traffic signs specifically for bicycles, and they're vertical, not horizontal. Café de Flore and Deux Magots are right next door. I chose Café de Flore and ordered a sandwich, which turned out to be different than I expected. It was made with French bread and filled with cheese and ham. The cheese was a little hard, and the ham tasted like wet tissue when eaten alone (I later discovered they have different types of ham, and this one was probably white ham). I ate the bread and barely ate the rest. Total: 12.40 euros. On the way back, there was a small street market. I saw some beautiful handmade bags and loved them. I also tried some very expensive truffle sauce. It was delicious, but I didn't buy the small bottle for 1,000 euros. On the way to the Louvre, I was followed by two strong black men near Rue de Seine. There were many after-hours art galleries along the way, so I quickly took a detour after passing a restaurant. There's a numismatic museum in front of the Pont des Arts. I took some photos there, then watched the Seine and the sunset from the Pont des Arts. The Louvre is just up the road. Walking up, you'll first see a wide square, followed by the Louvre entrance. Transportation costs 5 euros round trip.
