Turkey's Pamukkale: Soak in hot springs at the "Sky City" and explore an ancient theater.

Pamukkale in Turkey has always been one of the most anticipated destinations of my trip. From the photos online, it looks like a snow-white staircase floating in the clouds. Seeing it in person, it truly feels like a surreal dream. "Pamukkale" is actually a natural travertine formation. The hot spring water here contains a high concentration of calcium carbonate, which has accumulated over the years to form these layers of white terraces resembling cotton candy. Visitors can walk barefoot on the limestone (under staff supervision), and the warm spring water underfoot feels incredibly soothing. Some pools even allow you to soak your feet or sit in them for a while. Despite the warm weather, enjoying a hot spring amidst such a unique landscape feels like a luxurious experience. At the top of Pamukkale lies the ancient city ruins of Hierapolis, which include a remarkably well-preserved Roman theater. Built around the 2nd century AD, this theater once accommodated tens of thousands of spectators. Despite its age, standing at the top of the audience seating and looking down at the stage still evokes a sense of awe at its grand scale and ingenious design. The stage area retains several tall stone columns and intricate carvings, compelling visitors to pause and admire them. Tips: 1. You must remove your shoes to enter Pamukkale, so bring a towel to wipe your feet. 2. The area is very sunny during the day, so remember to apply sunscreen and be cautious of slippery limestone surfaces. 3. It's recommended to visit in the evening to catch the sunset, as the white terraces turn a soft golden hue, creating a stunning view.
