The entrance to the town is free, so you can wander around at your leisure. I spent hours exploring the stunning central square, which is surrounded by impressive Venetian-style buildings and shops. One of the highlights was visiting the Cathedral of Palmanova, located right in the square; it’s beautiful both inside and out. The atmosphere is lively, with locals and tourists alike enjoying the outdoor cafes. If you have time, take a short drive to nearby Aquileia, home to ancient Roman ruins.
