I rode a Wave motorcycle following Phuri's trail to Pakse. I visited a cafe that used to be an old power plant during the war in 1971, back when the French ruled Laos. The walls are covered with bullet holes, bomb damage, remnants of fighter planes, and weapons from the war era displayed as decorations. It's super cool.
