The World Heritage Site of Enryakuji Temple on Mount Hiei is the head temple of the Tendai sect founded by the great monk Saicho (767-822) on Mount Hiei in the 8th century. The temple covers an area of ​​nearly 1,700 hectares among the dense fir forests in the mountains. It is very vast.
