Daihosan Gongen-in Senkoji Temple is located halfway up Daihosan Mountain, 140m above sea level, overlooking Onomichi Port. It is said to have been founded by Kobo Daishi (806) and Tada Mitsunaka. The red-painted main hall (built in 1686) with its unusual stage structure is also called the "Red Hall," and Hayashi Fumiko wrote in her wanderings, "You can see the red tower of Senkoji Temple." "Akamon," "Tama no Iwa," and "Bell Tower," selected as one of the "100 Best Soundscapes to Preserve in Japan," are symbols of the temple. #ChristmasDestinations2024
