One of the main attractions in Onomichi is the long “shotengai”, or shopping street. Despite the old Showa Era atmosphere, this street is still full of life, activity and of course plenty of good shopping opportunities. Despite the modest size of Onomichi, this city has a surprisingly long and interesting shopping street. Stretching over one kilometer from start to finish, the Onomichi Hon-dori, on some signs also referred to as Center-gai or Onomichi-dori, is a classic Showa Era shopping street, covered with a semitransparent ceiling that will give you some much appreciated shelter on rainy days, and is full of old shops.
