Bodø, Norway’s gateway to the Arctic Circle.

Bodo, located at the northernmost end of the beautiful Norwegian Atlantic Coast Road, is the gateway to the Norwegian Arctic region and the capital of Nordland County in north-central Norway. The town initially grew from the herring industry in the 19th century and was almost razed to the ground during World War II. The current urban landscape was rebuilt later, so the buildings in the town appear more modern. The town of Bodø has an extremely important transportation position in Norway. It is not only the gateway to the Arctic Circle, but also an important transportation hub for traveling to and from the Lofoten Islands. The town has not done any publicity in the tourism industry. On the contrary, it seems more plain. Some modern artworks flashing on the streets from time to time, as well as various street paintings, add a bit of color to the town.
