Painted Walls & Perfect Plates: A Day in Georgetown, Penang’s UNESCO Gem

We kicked off our Georgetown adventure by hunting down its world-famous street art. Many of the murals here were created by Ernest Zacharevic, the same artist behind Ipoh’s iconic murals. The most photographed one—Boy on a Bicycle—was just the beginning. We also spotted fun pieces like the Dinosaur and several hidden treasures tucked along narrow alleyways. Every corner felt like an open-air gallery. Of course, being in Penang—known as a food paradise—we couldn’t miss out on the legendary local dishes. We tried the irresistible Char Kuey Teow, slurped down a bowl of authentic Penang Laksa, and cooled off with a colorful serving of Ice Kacang.
