Nam Ou River farmers in Laos

Nong Kieu is a small rural town on the banks of the Nam Ou River in Luang Prabang Province, Laos, nestled between the most amazing limestone mountains. It is a popular tourist destination as there are hiking trails and cycling routes near the village. The only good way to get there used to be by boat from Luang Prabang or Muang Khua, near the Vietnamese border, but the boats are no longer operating since 2017 following the construction of a dam on the Nam Ou River. This village is well-known in Laos because the Nong Khiri Bridge connecting the villages on both sides was built with Chinese aid.
