Phra That Bang Phuan, an ancient pagoda containing the relics of the Lord Buddha, has been revered by the people of Nong Khai for a long time. The original pagoda was made of burnt bricks in the local architectural style. It is an Indian-style stupa of the same era as Phra Pathom Chedi. Later, it collapsed due to the collapse of the pagoda’s base. It has been renovated by the Fine Arts Department, which has preserved the structure of the pillars, walls, and principal Buddha image, as well as various antiques very well, especially the principal Buddha image made of cement. Mucalinda Pond or Naga Pond is a sacred pond believed to be the residence of the Naga Mucalinda, which is often visited by people who come to pay homage and ask for blessings by pouring water over their heads for good luck. However, women are prohibited from entering the pond, but they can still pay homage and ask for blessings at the Naga shrine in front of the pond. Importantly, the water from Mucalinda Pond is considered sacred and has been used in the water pouring ceremony and other important ceremonies during the current reign. In addition to the pagoda, there is also a group of ancient sites called Sattha Maha Sathan, which were built according to Buddhist beliefs, meaning a replica of a place related to the Lord Buddha. After the enlightenment, there are 7 places: Bodhi Ballan, Animmis Chedi, Ratanajongkrom Chedi, Ratanaghara Chedi, Ajapalanigrod Chedi, Mucalinda Chedi and Rajayatana Chedi. In Wat Phra That Bang Phuan, it is considered the only place in the world that still has all 7 ancient sites remaining from the past.
