Nikko Nature Zone ⛰️

⛰️ Arriving in Nikko, in addition to exploring the World Heritage Sites, there's another unseen, quiet, and less crowded area: the nature zone. This zone features mountains, forests, and waterfalls. When we visited in late September, the leaves were just starting to change color. 🍂 The weather was cool, so we had to wear a light coat. Plus, there was fog. It was so refreshing to breathe in the fresh air. 🚗 Our family rented a car. The road up to Nikko's nature zone is uphill, with lots of curves and a fairly long drive. This driving route is called the Rohazaka Winding Road. It has 48 curves!! Drivers need to be quite skilled, but don't worry, the road is good and fairly wide, with signs along the way. Along the way up, there's a rest stop called the Akechidaira Ropeway where you can go to use the restroom and take beautiful photos. 📸 ⛰️💦 Reaching the summit, the highlight is Kegon Falls, one of Japan's three most beautiful waterfalls. You can walk down each level. If you only want to see the top, you can park in the parking lot and walk about 200 meters to the waterfall viewpoint. 🚤Next is Lake Chuzenji, a tranquil lakeside destination with boat rentals. It's especially beautiful during the autumn leaves. Nearby, on the lakefront, are restaurants, hotels, and the Chuzenji Onsen hot spring village. You can stay here for a unique atmosphere. For nature lovers and those seeking peace and quiet, we recommend staying here for a night. You'll fall in love with the tranquility and Japanese-ness. 📍Location: Nature Zone, Nikko City, Tochigi Prefecture, Japan 💰Price: Tobu Nikko Pass: 4,800 yen for train travel and discounts on Nikko attractions. Admission to Kegon Falls (the lower part includes the elevator) is 570 yen. If you only see the top, it's free! 🚃Getting there: By private car or train, once you arrive at Tobu-Nikko Station or JR Nikko Station, transfer to the Tobu Bus. ✨Caution: Traffic can be heavy in Irohazaka from late October to November, so allow plenty of time. #TravelJapan #DiscountNotRandom #Nikko
