🌇 Befco Bakauke Observation Deck – Stunning Free Views of Niigata

The Befco Bakauke Observation Deck truly offers one of the best panoramic views in Niigata. Perched atop the high-rise hotel building, this deck provides a sweeping bird’s-eye view of Niigata City, the bustling harbour, and the vast Sea of Japan. A word of caution—Google Maps initially took us on a wild detour toward the far end of the harbour, which caused quite a bit of confusion as we drove into an industrial port area. After pausing and checking our bearings, we figured out the actual location and have since updated the map listing to help future visitors avoid the same issue. Once at the right place, we were pleasantly surprised to find that entry is completely free—a rare find for such a scenic spot. The observation deck is enclosed and offers nearly 360-degree views, perfect for taking in Niigata from above. We had hoped to catch the sunset, but unfortunately, the sky was overcast that day. Still, the views did not disappoint, and the peaceful vantage point high above the city made it a worthwhile stop. It’s a great spot for photography, relaxation, or simply appreciating the layout and charm of Niigata from a different perspective.
