Chiang Mai Night Market Review

Chiang Mai is more lively at night than during the day. In particular, the Night Market is a symbol of the city’s nightlife that every traveler must visit at least once. I visited both the Chiang Mai Sunday Market and the Night Bazaar, and each had a distinctly different charm. The Sunday Market is a large-scale street market that starts from the old town’s Thapae Gate and stretches for several kilometers. When the sun begins to set, hundreds of stalls light up simultaneously, and under the lights, various local items such as handicrafts, silk scarves, natural soaps, paintings, and woodworks are displayed. It was fun to see, touch, and bargain for the price. In one corner of the market, local youth play traditional instruments, and street artists perform, capturing the footsteps of passersby. Although it is a tourist destination, it felt warm and inviting, with local residents and travelers mingling together, rather than a commercial feel. On the other hand, Chiang Mai Night Bazaar is a more organized night market with various shops such as food, clothing, souvenirs, and massage shops, providing shopping-centered pleasure. At the street food booths, you can enjoy local food such as papaya salad, mango rice, skewers, and roti to your heart's content. It is cheap and fresh, so you can eat your fill but still feel light. Chiang Mai Night Market is not just a market. It is a festival that opens at night, a place where travelers and locals communicate, and a place where you can experience the emotions of Chiang Mai most vividly. #HawaiiFlightEvent
