The history of Himuro Shrine dates back to the Nara period, when the capital was moved to Heijokyo, and an ice storehouse and ice pond were built here in Kasugano. The Ice Festival is held on May 1st every year. Not only is a sacrificial ceremony held, but the summer weather is also predicted. The main deities of Himuro Shrine are Tatsuo Daizan-no-Mikoto, Ohnogi-no-Mikoto, and Prince Ota-Onakahiko. The shrine has a thousand-year history, and the ice festival is still an important ceremony. In front of the shrine's worship hall and at the entrance, there is pure ice offered to the gods, with fresh flowers placed in it, which is clean and free of bubbles. The most special thing is that after worshipping, you can ask the gods for an ice fortune stick. Put a blank fortune stick paper on the ice, and the fortune stick will slowly emerge.
