Todai-ji’s Largest Ancient Wooden Building in the World 🦌

Located on the North side of Nara Park, in the ancient capital of Japan, Nara City 🇯🇵 Todai-ji temple is a breathtaking architectural work of art and is the largest ancient wooden building in the world. Deer surround the temple, making it feel even more magical 🦌 Entering through the South gate, Nandaimon, you can see two Niwang Kongorikishi statues which are 8 metres tall! They are beautifully carved, vivid and fierce. Facing each other in ‘A-Un’ mutual understanding ～ their minds perfectly on the same wavelength. As you go into the Great Buddha Hall, also known as the Golden Hall, there is a 10 metre bronze statue of Lucena Buddha. Over the years, the head of the statue has been stolen many times, so the colour of the body and head are actually slightly different.
