Nara Park

#japantrip When you're visiting Osaka or Kyoto, then Nara should be on the menu as well! Nara Park is a magnificent place full of temples and shrines dating back for centuries. The buildings and shrines represent the peace, harmony, dedication, and discipline of the Japanese people. The Buddha in the giant wooden building (one of the biggest wooden structures in the world!) Is a must see as well. Inside the main temple you can "buy" a roof tile for 2,000 yen on which you can write a prayer, your name, or whatever you like. No, you're not taking the roof tile home but they will use it on the roof of one of the sacred buildings when an old tile needs to be replaced. Inside the park there are many deer which you can feed cookies/crackers they sell at the location for 200 yen/pack. The deer will actually bow before getting their treat! Note: only feed the deer with the food you can buy for them in the park! It took us a full day to walk around and visit all the buildings and shrines. It's absolutely worth it! I'd go back in a heartbeat!
