Sunset and Maple Trail | A Stroll on the Maolan Mountain Trail

Located at Sun Moon Lake, the Maolan Mountain Trail stretches approximately 4.6 kilometers. It is an easy hiking route suitable for the whole family. Along the way, you can enjoy the vast Assam tea plantations and dense Taiwan cedar forests, while also taking in the scenic views of Sun Moon Lake's mountains and waters. Reaching the summit, you can overlook Jiufen Ershan and Jiji Dashan, making it an excellent spot to watch the sunrise, sea of clouds, and sunset. During autumn and winter, the leaves of the Ceylon olive trees turn red, painting the trail with a romantic and warm ambiance, as if walking through an avenue of autumn foliage. You can also spot historical sites along the way, such as the tea improvement station and weather observatory from the Japanese colonial period.
