Checheng

Checheng Railway Station is the terminus of the "Jiji Railway Branch Line". It was built during the Japanese colonial era and is 29.7 kilometers long. It can be said to be the "longest" route among the Taiwan Railway branch lines. Starting in 1916, the Puli Sugar Factory used carts to transport sugar to Checheng Station, and then shipped the produced sugar out. As a result, there were many carts parked in front of Checheng Station, just like a "parking lot". Some people called it "Checheng" in the Hokkien pronunciation, hence the name.
