Langshan Scenic Area (Chongchuan District, Nantong, Jiangsu) After breakfast on October 16, visit the Langshan Scenic Area located in Langshan Town, Chongchuan District, Nantong City, Jiangsu Province. The Langshan Scenic Area is about 6 kilometers from downtown Nantong, bordered by the Yangtze River to the west. It consists of five mountains: Junshan, Jianshan, Langshan, Ma'anshan, and Huangnishan, rising from the vast Jiangsu plain and is renowned as a "natural water and stone bonsai." Covering a total area of 11.27 square kilometers, it is a Jiangsu provincial scenic spot and a national 4A-level tourist attraction, uniquely blending natural scenery, rich history, and Buddhist culture. My visit mainly focused on Langshan. The main features of Langshan are: first, in Buddhism, Langshan is the site of Bodhisattva Dashizhi’s practice, with flourishing incense offerings, ranking first among the eight small famous Buddhist mountains in China; second, it is the first mountain along the Yangtze River and the sea. Standing on the Yangtze River bank, it offers a magnificent view of the river flowing eastward (Photo 16); third, it has rich historical relics including the Tang Dynasty Guangjiao Temple (Photos 12-14) and the Song Dynasty Zhiyun Pagoda (Photo 15). I entered from the east entrance—North Slope Garden—Mountain Gate (Photo 4)—Luobinwang’s Tomb (Photo 10)—Kuizhu Mountain House (Photo 11)—and climbed to the top of Langshan (Guangjiao Temple, Zhiyun Pagoda). This route is a counterclockwise tour, allowing a comprehensive appreciation of Langshan’s natural and cultural landscapes. This scenic area charges an entrance fee. Langshan’s elevation is 106.94 meters, with over 500 steps. The path is in good condition, suitable for hiking, and the tour takes about 3 hours. The area is quite popular with visitors.
