Who would have thought! After spending 3 days in Nanchang, my friends thought I had visited 4 different cities! 🤯 Babes! Whenever I thought of Jiangxi before, all I could picture was Wuyuan rapeseed flowers, until I went to Nanchang last week and got totally proven wrong! This city is such a hidden gem! It has the romance of ancient poetry, the passion of heroes, and the food is so delicious it makes you stomp your feet. Three days is definitely not enough to explore! Let me start with the must-visit millennium-old charm route! You have to climb Tengwang Pavilion! 🚀 Don’t just think about memorizing poems and taking photos—standing on the pavilion watching the Gan River winding around the city, with skyscrapers and river cruise boats in the same frame, that feeling of ancient meeting modern gives you goosebumps! Promise me you’ll visit Wanshou Palace at night! 🏮 When the lanterns light up, it’s like stepping into Nanchang’s version of “Spirited Away.” The freshly made white sugar cakes in the alleys smell amazing, and you can stroll through creative shops while eating—such a lively atmosphere! Shengjin Tower is perfect for an afternoon stroll. 🗼 Listening to the wind chimes under the thousand-year-old tower, with grandmas chatting nearby, it’s way more relaxing than crowded tourist spots. For red-themed attractions, I highly recommend the August 1st Uprising Memorial Hall! 🆓 It’s free but incredibly moving! You must try the VR experience—it feels like you’re really back in that era, and it fills your heart with passion! Don’t miss the former headquarters of the Nanchang Uprising Command either; the bullet holes on the walls make it so immersive that you can’t help but walk softly. If you want to relax, go to Aixi Lake Wetland Park! 🌿 It’s the “green lung” loved by locals. The wooden boardwalk is surrounded by lotus and water lilies, and walking while listening to birdsong will wash all your worries away! In autumn and winter, you can also visit Poyang Lake to see migratory birds—hundreds of thousands flying together, an absolutely stunning sight! I could talk about the food all day! 🍜 Nanchang mixed rice noodles and clay pot soup are a must-try. Avoid the trendy spots! Follow the locals to breakfast shops in residential areas—the noodles are packed with flavor, and the clay pot soup is so fresh it’ll blow your mind! You have to try the boiled dishes and thick soup on Hama Street; spicy but not harsh on the stomach—I ate there two nights in a row! Finally, here are some key tips for you! 📝 Make sure to book the memorial hall and art museum in advance so you don’t miss out! If you visit in summer, bring sunscreen and mosquito repellent because the wetland park has really fierce mosquitoes!
