African Dish is delicious coming from an Asian man's review. I spent few days in Nairobi and was exited with each flavourful dish. Let me share this with you. You must try Kenya beer. Tusker is the main beer brand that even exported to the UK. It is a must in every meal ! For main dish (fish, pork, chicken, etc) is usually served with kale, a leafy vegetables with Mukimo, Ugali or Pilau. Let me breakdown these 3 side dishes. Mukimo, a Central Kenya delicacy mainly prepared by mashing potatoes, green peas and green leafy vegetables like pumpkin leaves. It is like a green mashed potato. Next, Ugali is a mashed corn or maize flour. Finally, Pilau is fragrant rice cooked with spices and meat. Tilapia fish from Lake Victoria is also a popular dish in Kenya. The fish is rich in nutrients like vitamin A, omega-3 fatty acids, and protein. Another vegetable dish is Kachumbari. Kachumbari is a refreshing salad made of fresh tomatoes, onions, green chillies, coriander and a few drops of lime (some didn’t have it). It's a great dish when combined with grilled meats. Arrowroot. Arrowroot is a starchy root vegetable with Vitamin B, a Gluten-Free Food and many more health benefit involving lowering cholesterol, improve circulation and immune system.
