Nagoya Temple Tour - Osu Kannon!

Officially known as Kitanozan Shinpukuji Houshouin, it is affectionately called Osu Kannon. It is one of Japan's three great Kannon temples, alongside Asakusa Kannon and Tsu Kannon. As a special head temple of the Chisan School of Shingon Buddhism, it is Nagoya's most prominent Kannon pilgrimage site. The temple is bustling with visitors during the New Year’s first shrine visit (Hatsumode). Although the main hall was destroyed during wartime, it was rebuilt in 1970. The Osu Library houses approximately 15,000 books, including a National Treasure copy of the Kojiki. On the 18th and 28th of each month, an antique market is held here. Access Take the Tsurumai Subway Line to "Osu Kannon" Station. It’s a 3-minute walk from Exit 2.
