Nong Khrin Temple

An ancient temple in Nong Yao Sung Subdistrict, Wat Nong Khrin is a temple located on a hill. Legend has it that the original location of the temple was a lush forest with a large swamp in the middle of two valleys. This swamp is home to many wild animals, including humans who regularly drink and eat. On the edge of the swamp, there is a large tree with branches spreading out in a wide circle, making the area shady. Many types of birds live there, especially “kaminced birds.” The villagers therefore called this tree “Katlin Tree” and later understood that it was distorted into the word “Khrin.” Later, the villagers joined hands to build a temple as a place for the villagers to hold onto their hearts and minds, as a place for making merit and performing religious ceremonies.
