Laid- back Holiday on Meizhou Island

Meizhou Island is a small fishing town off the coast of Putian, Fujian province in China. To get there, you can take a bus or taxi from Putian city to the coast (shipping wharf), where you will need to board a ferry to get to the island. The town is very laid back, and the hotels are mostly family owned hostels. There are great Chinese restaurants, and you can also find some Western take out restaurants. The beaches are really beautiful, specifically the sunsets. Meizhou island is said to be the birthplace of the goddess Mazu, and her statue can be seen at the main temple on the island. There are plenty of beautiful temples to visit, and the architecture is also quite unique. Meizhou island is a perfect place to find some peace and quiet, outside of the city.
