The Lost Grandeur of Marrakesh

Exploring Badi Palace - The Lost Grandeur of Marrakesh Visiting Badi Palace felt like stepping into a piece of Morocco’s royal history. Built in the late 16th century by Sultan Ahmad al-Mansur, this once-magnificent palace was designed to showcase the power and wealth of the Saadian dynasty. Though now in ruins, its massive courtyards, sunken gardens, and towering walls still hold a sense of grandeur. Walking through the site, I could imagine its past splendor—once adorned with gold, marble, and intricate mosaics imported from across the world. The palace’s vast courtyard, with its large reflecting pools, was particularly stunning. Climbing up to the terrace offered an incredible panoramic view of the Marrakesh Medina. One of the highlights was exploring the underground dungeons and passageways, adding a mysterious touch to the experience. The palace is also home to the Minbar of the Koutoubia Mosque, a beautifully preserved wooden pulpit that showcases incredible craftsmanship. Despite its ruined state, Badi Palace still carries the echoes of its glorious past, making it a must-visit for anyone interested in Moroccan history and architecture. #onedaytrip #thingstodo #travel #marrakech
