Discover a Maldives-like Paradise in Malaysia: Redang Island

Looking for a Maldives experience without the hefty price tag? Look no further than Malaysia's Redang Island (Pulau Redang). Here's why: Visa-free: Located in Malaysia, the hotels speak Chinese, and it has just been announced that Chinese tourists can use automatic gates for entry, making it as convenient as returning home! Cost-effective: Ocean view rooms are priced at 600 per person per night, including three meals, round-trip island transportation, and snorkeling. The view from the balcony is breathtaking! Plenty of activities: There are countless free activities, with the fire dance show at night being a highlight for both adults and kids. Beautiful scenery and delicious food: From the balcony to the restaurant to afternoon snorkeling, it's all jelly-like sea. The coconut ice cream is delicious and only costs 10! Location: Redang Island, Malaysia Transportation: Fly to Kuala Lumpur, transfer to Terengganu, and the hotel will pick you up from the airport for a 40-minute boat ride to the island. Accommodation: There are three hotels on the island; I stayed at Laguna with an ocean view room. I recommend prioritizing cost-effectiveness since all three hotels share the same beach. Choose the cheapest option! Itinerary: I chose a 3-day, 2-night stay, including two days of marine park and open sea snorkeling. Suggested items to bring: Essentials: Sunscreen clothing/sunglasses/diving gear (they can lend it for free, but I suggest bringing your own)/slippers/toiletries Photography: Camera/drone/Gopro (rented) Others: Cash/SIM card (Cele) with excellent signal/adapter/passport Personal tips! 1. Book hotels on the official website for more discounts, avoiding middlemen. 2. One open sea snorkeling trip is enough; book turtle snorkeling at Redang Beach Resort for the best deal at 40. 3. From 2 PM, the sunlight casts palm tree shadows on the beach, perfect for photos. 4. Small sharks can be found on the far right side of the snorkeling area! 5. There's a free fire dance show at 8:30 PM, don't miss it! 6. Redang Beach Resort offers seaside massages, very comfortable, 1 hour for 120, with great technique. 7. Drones are allowed. This hidden gem rivals the Maldives in value, so what are you waiting for? Go now! #Malaysia #RedangIsland #MalaysiaTravel #KualaLumpur #KualaLumpurSurroundings #Travel #OffbeatTravel #MustVisit

✈️ Business Trip with a Local Twist: Kuala Terengganu, Malaysia 🇲🇾 Duration: 2 Days 1 Night Purpose: Business + Light Sightseeing Accommodation: DJ Citi Plaza Hotel & Suites ⸻ 📅 Day 1 – Arrival & Evening City Walk My business trip brought me to Kuala Terengganu, a charming coastal city rich in culture and local flavors. After completing my work duties, I took a peaceful evening walk along Pesisir Payang — a scenic waterfront promenade with beautiful sunset views. It’s a great place to unwind after a busy day. 🍽️ Food Highlight: I tried the famous rojak ayam from a local stall — large portion, flavorful sauce, and a satisfying mix of textures. Highly recommended! ⸻ 📅 Day 2 – Chinatown & Local Delights Finished my work in the morning and headed to Chinatown in the afternoon. A quick tip: most shops and kopitiams (local coffee shops) close after lunch, so visiting in the morning is ideal to fully enjoy the area. 🍜 What I Ate: • Seafood mee hoon soup – fresh ingredients and flavorful broth. • Local coffee and snacks – the perfect way to relax before heading back. • Bought some keropok lekor (traditional fish crackers) — a must-buy local snack! ⏱️ After lunch, it was time to return home. Short trip, but full of discoveries. ⸻ 🏨 Hotel Review: DJ Citi Plaza Hotel & Suites • ⭐ Great location — walking distance to Chinatown, local markets & eateries • 🛏️ Clean, spacious, and comfortable rooms • 💼 Ideal for short business or leisure stays ⸻ 🍴 Food Recommendations • Yin Yin Café – Popular for pork and seafood noodles • On The Way Kopitiam – Wide variety of local dishes and excellent keropok lekor ⸻ 📌 Travel Tip If you have extra time, consider extending your stay for a quick island getaway! • 🏝️ Redang Island • 🏝️ Perhentian Islands Both offer crystal-clear waters, snorkeling, and unforgettable beach experiences just a short boat ride away. ⸻ 💬 Final Thoughts Kuala Terengganu may be a small city, but it’s rich in charm, culture, and flavors. Whether you’re here for work or leisure, it’s worth taking time to explore its hidden gems. I’ll definitely be back — next time, with my beachwear packed #KualaTerengganu #BusinessTripDiaries #LocalEats #HiddenGems #RedangIsland #PerhentianIsland #WorkLifeBalance #MalaysiaTravel#thingstodo
