Wat Tham Pla

Wat Tham Pla is located in Ban Tham, Pong Pha Subdistrict, Mae Sai District, Chiang Rai Province, about 13 kilometers from Mae Sai District. It is one of the famous temples in Chiang Rai Province, known for its beautiful natural scenery and serene atmosphere. The temple features a large limestone cave, a large fish pond, and many macaques. Getting There Wat Tham Pla is located along the Mae Sai-Chiang Saen Road, Highway No. 10, about 13 kilometers from Mae Sai District. You can travel by private car or public bus on the Mae Sai-Chiang Saen route. There is parking available upon arrival at the temple. Opening Hours Wat Tham Pla is open daily from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Admission Fee There is no admission fee. Attractions within the Temple Tham Pla Cave is a large limestone cave with a deep cavity extending into the mountain, situated below ground level. Clear, cool water flows out year-round. In the past, the cave was naturally abundant with fish known as 'Pla Phuang Hin' or 'Pla Phung,' but they have almost become extinct. Nowadays, many beautiful fish such as catfish, carp, eels, tilapia, silver fish, goldfish, koi, and turtles have been released into the pond.
