Ban Rak Thai

Ban Rak Thai, located in Mok Cham Pae Subdistrict, Mueang District, Mae Hong Son Province, is not far from Pang Ung. It is a village of Yunnan Chinese people. Almost all the buildings in the village are in Chinese style. The overall atmosphere still maintains its original state, except for the area around the lake where there are more accommodations. From my latest visit, several new accommodations are being constructed to cater to tourists. However, the charm of Ban Rak Thai lies in its preservation of the unique Chinese community identity, including the food (they don't use fish sauce there, they use salt instead, which is quite interesting).
