Macau|Ruins of St. Paul's

#2024Travel Review Address: Ruins of St. Paul's, Macau Opening hours of the Catholic Art Museum and Tomb: 09:00 - 18:00 (closed on Tuesday afternoons, open from 09:00 - 14:00 on Tuesdays, open as usual on public holidays) Ruins of St. Paul's is one of the landmarks of Macau and a must-visit attraction for tourists. It is nearby the Fortress, Macau Museum, Senado and other attractions, so you can visit it together. Ruins of St. Paul's is the ruins of the front wall of the Church of Our Lady of God (St. Paul's Church). St. Paul's Church is affiliated with St. Paul's College. In 1835, a fire destroyed St. Paul's College and its affiliated church, leaving only the front wall of the church, most of the foundation, and the stone steps in front of the church. Since then, this has become the world-famous ruins of St. Paul's Church. The locals call it the Ruins of St. Paul's because the front wall of the church resembles a traditional Chinese archway. This stone wall that combines Chinese and Western elements is unique among Catholic churches in the world. The Museum of Catholic Art is located in the ruins of St. Paul's Cathedral behind the Ruins of St. Paul's. The Macau government carried out archaeological, restoration and reuse projects on the ruins of St. Paul's Cathedral, and built a tomb and a Catholic Art Museum where the main altar of St. Paul's Cathedral used to be. In the center of the tomb is the ruins of a granite tomb. The owner of the tomb is probably Father Valiant, the founder of St. Paul's College. The bones of Japanese and Vietnamese martyrs are placed in ossuaries on the walls on both sides of the tomb. #澳门游 #澳门Must-Go Check-in Point #RUINSBA Archway
