Reminiscence of the Sea: A Stroll through the Maritime Museum of Macau

Next to the A-Ma Temple, a pristine and minimalist building catches the eye - the Maritime Museum of Macau. Stepping into this museum feels like opening a time portal that connects the ocean with human history. The first-floor exhibition hall uses exquisite ship models and old nautical charts to outline the legendary voyages of the Portuguese when they first arrived in the East. The lifelike miniature ship models bring the age of sail from centuries ago to life, while the ancient compasses and nautical instruments on display reveal the sailors' reverence and wisdom towards the vast ocean. The second floor focuses on the maritime cultural exchange between China and Portugal. The intricate carvings on the dragon boat model and the golden dragon at the stern seem ready to break through the glass, narrating the story of East-West fusion. There is also an interactive area upstairs where visitors can experience a thrilling and fun simulated sailing journey. Through the windows, the shimmering coastline in front of the A-Ma Temple evokes thoughts of the ancient wisdom and courage of those who lived by the sea. Here, I rediscovered the profound connection between Macau and the ocean. The boundless blue, like an unbroken story, continues to be told to this day.
