The colorful Jiuzhou Pool

The Jiuzhou Pool site is a royal garden from the era of Empress Wu Zetian, and was also the main leisure and entertainment space for the harem during the Sui and Tang dynasties. The Jiuzhou Pool was built during the Sui Dynasty, with main buildings including the Thousand-Step Pavilion, the Yao Guang Hall, the Liuli Pavilion, and the One-Pillar View, among others. In addition to retaining the above buildings and the Jiuzhou Pool, the Tang Dynasty also added the Wangjing Platform, the Yingri Platform, and other buildings. Around the pool, they also built the Huaguang Court, the Shanzhai Court, the Xianglong Court, the Shenju Court, the Xianju Court, the Renzhi Court and other courtyards, forming a beautiful palace garden scene with a dense water network and pavilions dotted in between, which is an important part of the Sui and Tang Luoyang Palace City (Ziwei City).
