Check in Kangding City and Luding Bridge

After a tour around Yuzixi, Xinduqiao and Tagong Grassland around Kangding, we returned to the urban area of ​​Kangding and stayed for a day. The biggest highlights of the urban area were the brightly lit Rainbow Bridge, the surging Zheduo River, and the eye-catching thangka murals on the nearby Guoda Mountain, which added a strong religious color to this mountain city. ⛰️When searching for Guodashan, all you will find are its legends. It is said that during the Three Kingdoms period, Zhuge Liang led his troops to the south and passed through Linqiong, but was blocked by the troops of many tribal leaders outside the border. They claimed that this place was not Han territory and asked the prime minister to lead the army back to Shu. In order to eliminate hidden dangers in the rear, Zhuge Liang adopted the policy of "peace is the most important" towards the tribes outside Shu. He discussed with the leaders of these tribes and proposed to use the area within the range of an arrow as the boundary between the two sides. He stood on the South Bridge and shot an arrow, and they agreed that the place where the arrow landed would be the boundary and the two sides would never invade each other. The tribal leaders thought that the range of an arrow shot was limited, so they readily agreed. Afterwards, Zhuge Liang secretly dispatched his general Guo Da to rush to Dajianlu (now Kangding), and agreed to quickly insert an arrow as a mark on the top of a high mountain northeast of the place on June 15th. At the same time, Zhuge Liang also came to the South Bridge of Qiongzhou with the leaders on the same day and shot an arrow to the west. The leaders immediately sent people to look for the arrow, and finally found it on the top of Dajianlu Mountain. From then on, the Tibetan and Han peoples lived in harmony and peace. After completing the task of inserting the arrow, Guo Da is said to have passed away riding a green goat. In order to commemorate the legendary General Guoda, people built a temple at the foot of the mountain, so the mountain was named "Guoda Mountain" and the temple was called "General Temple". In Tibetan, "Guoda" is the transliteration of "Gada". "Gada" refers to Taining, which was Ningyuan in the Yuan Dynasty (now the location of Xiede Township, Daofu County), and was under the jurisdiction of Mingzheng Tusi. During the reign of Emperor Yongzheng, the Seventh Dalai Lama lived here. Tibetans regard "Gada" as a sacred place and worship it. There is a mountain in the northeast of Kangding City. It has bare rocks and towering peaks, making it difficult to climb. If you take a detour to the top of the mountain, you can overlook the mountains, as if a god is guarding here. Therefore, the Tibetan people call it Gada Mountain, which is translated into "Guoda Mountain" in Chinese. But what I am more interested in is that Guodashan is regarded as the barometer of Kangding. When the clouds and fog on the top of the mountain disappear, it is a sign of clear and sunny weather. Whenever there are clouds and fog, it is sure that rain will come. It has been verified many times to be accurate, so it has the reputation of "predicting rain or sunshine among the flowers before the rain". We should remember history and be grateful for the contributions of our ancestors, which have enabled us to enjoy peace and happiness in this prosperous era today. Walking on the bridge, it sways and my heart sways with it. I can imagine the hardships and difficulties it went through back then.
