Cave with thousand of Buddha

We took a lovely boat journey on the Mekong river to arrive to the Pak Ou caves, with beautiful views of the limestone mountains and riverbank life. The caves are set in a stunning mountain cliff at the point where the Mekong River meets the Nam Ou River and are home to over 4,000 Buddha symbols and statues. For millennia, the caves have been a center of worship and religious pilgrimage, dating back to pre-Buddhist periods when the locals worshipped Phi, or natural spirits. People think the caverns are still inhabited by river spirits, and they continue to give offerings and pray to them. #beautifulsunsets#bestislandtraveltowns#summervacation#beachvacation#hikingtrails#urbanexplorer

I Loved stopping at this place to see the Laos forest, the falls and the sun bears. I would have loved to have gone for a swim in the pools, but the crowds were intense ( and this was in February 2020 before COVID changed everything). Go early and take your time at the sun bear sanctuary...fantastic. great outing , as always loved the lush green and foliage growing on the way to the waterfalls . Great day with a bit of cloudness and cool weather . Then hot again but as we got there the kids jumped in . Water still cold . We love it the small quietness during this time not a lot of people . Good for family and kids #summervacation#beachvacation#hikingtrails#hotelstay#urbanexplorer
